Dispolok ES 64 U2
Electric two-system locomotive for heavy-duty goods transportation and fast passenger transport.
The ES 64 U2 is a representative of the second-generation EuroSprinter family.
In terms of traction and signaling, a two-system design has been equipped, and already approved, for Germany, Austria and Hungary.
Thanks to its technology, it is also suitable for the AC lines in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
It will be approved for use in Switzerland in 2002.
With an output of up to 7000 kW, the ES 64 U2 is currently the most modern and most powerful locomotive in Europe. This is the basis for its optimum timetable design and the guarantor of short travel times. Redundant systems ensure tractive effort redundancy of three-quarters of the maximum tractive effort and output redundancy of two-thirds or five-sixths of its continuous power.
