Electric DC-Locomotives ES 64 F for Italy
CFI - Compagnia Ferroviaria Italiana Srl - is a private Italian rail operator, which obtained the operation license for the Italian railway network in July 2009 . The CEO of CFI, Mr Giacomo Di Patrizi, is also the president of the “FER Cargo” group, a newly formed organization of several private railway companies in Italy.
On the basis of a frame contract concluded in October 2009, CFI until today rented up four locomotives of the version VI from MRCE Dispolok.
The Siemens-built electric locomotives of the type ES 64 F4 – version VI - derived from the manufacturers four-system locomotive ES 64 F4, which is used for heavy freight traffic and passenger transport. The variant VI is designed as a pure DC- locomotive and equipped with the Italian train control system called SCMT.
The locomotives, maintained by the company “mgw Service GmbH” as a subcontractor, are characterized by a high availability and reliability. CFI, transporting mainly steel, serves the routes Bologna – Firenze – Napoli – Reggio Calabria und Bologna – Ancona – Bari – Brindisi/Tarant and others.
